North Carolina is in the southeastern United States on the Atlantic Seaboard. North Carolina is bordered by South Carolina and Georgia to the south, Tennessee to the west and Virginia to the north. Apex, North Carolina is in Wake County, in the heart of N.C. Apex is often seen as a suburb of nearby Raleigh; other neighboring towns include Cary and Holly Springs. Apex's motto is "The Peak of Good Living." The town of Apex, NC, incorporated in 1873, was named for its location as the highest point on a portion of the Chatham Railroad. Apex's quaint downtown reflects its railroad station heritage. At the heart of town stands the Apex Union Depot, built in 1914, which now houses the Apex Chamber of Commerce. The historic depot has been restored and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
