Douglas E. Kingsbery earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Duke University. He has practiced criminal law in North Carolina for more than twenty-five years. He was among the first attorneys in North Carolina to be certified in the practice of State and Federal Criminal Law by the North Carolina State Bar, and has served as the Chairman of the North Carolina State Bar's Criminal Law Specialty Committee. Doug is a member of the National Association Of Criminal Defense Attorneys and the North Carolina Academy Of Trial Lawyers. He has tried cases in numerous counties across the State, as well as in the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Tax Court, the Federal Court of Claims, and the United States Supreme Court. He has argued and won criminal appeals before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Mr. Kingsbery carries an "AV" rating from his peers as reported in Martindale-Hubbell.  He is listed among the Best Lawyers in America, is named one of North Carolina's "Legal Elite" by North Carolina Business Magazine, and was named to the 2007 Super Lawyers in the area of Business Litigation.

White Collar Crime These cases often involve fraud, embezzlement, bribery, environmental crimes, criminal antitrust, tobacco fraud, money laundering, "structuring" of financial transactions, and banking crimes against businesses, banks or the Federal, State or Local governments.
Tax Crimes These cases often involve Failure to File Tax Returns, Filing of False Tax Returns, Tax Evasion, and may involve personal tax returns, corporate returns, sales and use tax reports and other reports required to be filed with the IRS or the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Crimes of Violence These cases may include Murder and lesser degrees of homicide, Assaults, Robbery, Larceny, Rape, and Indecent Liberties.
Controlled Substances These cases may include the possession or sale of narcotics or other controlled substances, trafficking and conspiracy charges.
